Description

The Welsh flag wall art is the third of our new 3D wooden flag collection. Made from solid pine, finished with clear varnish.

There is an option to customise with an added solid brass plaque with black painted engraving should you require as a birthday gift, anniversary present etc.

Please leave a message to us at the cart page by clicking 'add note to your order' stating what you would like engraving, we will email you a proof to make sure you are happy, you can change as many times as you like, when you are 100% confident and confirm, we will begin making the plaque.

The back has D rings and rope to hang wherever you want. Screws and wall plugs are supplied, these are for solid concrete or brick walls. For plasterboard walls, please use the appropriate fixings.

As these flags are 5kg, a competent installer should be used.

As wood is a natural product, deviations in grains and knot placements are common, this makes every piece unique.

The Flag of Wales (Y Ddraig Goch, meaning 'the red dragon') consists of a red dragon passant on a green and white field.

History

The flag incorporates the red dragon of Cadwaladr, King of Gwynedd, along with the Tudor colours of green and white. It was used by Henry VII at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, after which it was carried in state to St Paul's Cathedral. The red dragon was then included as a supporter of the Tudor royal arms to signify their Welsh descent. It was officially recognised as the Welsh national flag in 1959. Several cities include a dragon in their flag design, including Cardiff, the Welsh capital.
